The Village of Nassau opened a public hearing on a complaint about the condition of the property at 3 Westbrook Drive, reading a notice that said the exterior contains ‘‘waste, rubbish, debris’’ in violation of chapter 87 of the village code and demanding those materials be removed on or before July 7. A hearing was scheduled for July 8 at 7 p.m. at the village hall, 40 Malden Street, to determine whether the conditions constitute a public nuisance.
The Committee member who read the notice told residents that failure to comply could prompt an authorized village agent to enter the property, remove and dispose of the material, and assess costs and a lien against the parcel, with an additional 15% administrative fee and inspection costs added to the total. He also noted the owner previously appeared in court and was fined $100, with the fine due July 1. ‘‘Demand is hereby made on you that you remove such items from said property on or before July 7,’’ the Committee member said while reading the notice. The owner or an agent was described as entitled to be heard at the hearing and to present evidence or testimony.
The board recorded a motion to close the hearing at the end of the public comment period; the motion was announced as "Motion by Ryan," seconded "2nd by Rich," and the chair announced the hearing closed and that the regular board meeting would begin at 7:30 p.m. There was no roll-call vote recorded in the hearing transcript.
