The long-range planning committee presented a recommended bond package totaling about $1.64 billion that would be split across four propositions: approximately $1.3 billion for a general proposition (Prop B) addressing life-cycle replacements and critical infrastructure; about $256 million for devices and classroom technology (Prop C); roughly $61 million for high-school athletic-facility needs (Prop D); and about $20.1 million for pool facilities (Prop E).
"Prop b proposition b, which is the general proposition for approximately 1,300,000,000 addresses life cycle replacements of critical infrastructure," Mister Morgan said while summarizing the committeerecommendation. Staff and advisers projected that disciplined fiscal management would allow the district to reduce the interest and sinking (I&S) tax rate by three cents from 40¢ to 37¢ under the recommended package.
Trustees discussed required ballot-language constraints and asked questions about scope and student-device spending. Trustee LeCompte and others expressed concerns about providing one-to-one devices for elementary students; trustees debated classroom sets, screen-time guardrails and the practicality of online state testing. Administration said many instructional resources and state tests are now digital, and staff said they would continue work on proposed guardrails and supports if devices are included in the bond.
The committeerecommendation and project information is posted on the district website; the board will decide whether to place the propositions on a future ballot.
