Organizers announced a community 5K walk/run fundraiser scheduled for September 26 with a 10:00 a.m. start and a downtown concert later that evening at about 7:00 p.m. Pastor Michael Myers said proceeds will help fund "comfort bags" to keep in police cruisers and ambulances for children, victims of domestic violence, and others in crisis.
Kevin Trent, identified in the program as representing the VFW in Connersville, and a VFW commander (post 571) presented a certificate of appreciation and a donation for flags to the event host. "I'd like to give you the certificate of appreciation for taking care of our veteran's display and the donation for our flags," the VFW commander said during the brief presentation.
The program then closed with a final prayer and an invitation to a reception inside the church.
