The group is coordinating with Peoples Gas to address restoration problems after utilities tore up streets (residents instructed to submit service requests via the borough 311 portal). At the wastewater treatment plant, staff reported that most solar panels are installed and wired and that the plant will soon begin reducing electricity costs when the system goes online.
"We've added a number of metals, including, like, e coli and, PFAS," public works staff said when summarizing the testing additions required by a new five-year wastewater permit. Staff also explained that sidewalk replacements will be done in larger sections and that some grant funds will be redirected to the areas of greatest need. The borough has activated a manhole inspection program to grade manholes and reduce the chance of large emergencies.
