The Planning Commission on Aug. 6 tabled a staff-requested ordinance discussion on minimum garage sizes across residential districts, asking staff to return with examples of local practice and peer-city standards and to show what has been built in Dayton over the past five years.
Commissioners said they want a balanced approach that preserves options for smaller product types (villas, townhomes) while discouraging narrow, garage-forward facades in some subdivisions. "I want the developers to come in and say why they can't meet that," the chair said, asking staff to document recent projects and comparable municipal codes. The commission voted unanimously to table the item for further staff work.
