Johnstown-Monroe students receive inaugural 7 by 24 'Powering the Future' CTE scholarships

The Johnstown-Monroe Local School District board and partner organizations awarded the inaugural 7 by 24 "Powering the Future" scholarships to 14 graduating students in the district's electrical trades career-technical education program. "A $1,000 scholarship to each student," the board presenter said as names were read and students were invited forward to receive certificates and checks. Vantage's representative described workforce development as a driving reason for the awards, saying the funding supports students pursuing careers in electrical trades and may be used for tuition, tools, books or program fees. The board identified 14 named recipients, including Max Mitchell, who was also mentioned in a feature cited from the Newark Advocate as an Ohio SkillsUSA state champion in electrical construction wiring.
