City officials said the proposed South Elm Street Pedestrian Plaza pilot remains on hold as business owners, property owners, residents and community stakeholders continue to share ideas and provide feedback.
"The proposed South Elm Street Pedestrian Plaza would temporarily transform the 200 block of Elm Street into a pedestrian-focused public space featuring outdoor seating, public art, live music, games, fitness classes, and other community activities," Rosemary Plyben said. The pilot as described would close certain adjacent blocks to cars on weekends only, from 5 p.m. Friday through 5 p.m. Sunday, and the city directs interested residents to meetmeonelm.com for specifics.
City representatives said they will continue community engagement and work sessions before deciding whether to move forward with a temporary closure pilot.
