Redfield Council approves dozens of seasonal hires for parks, pool and event staffing

The Redfield City Council on March 2 approved hiring a large slate of 2026 seasonal employees for parks, pool operations, concessions and umpiring roles. The motion by Councilmember Mike Siebrecht and seconded by Brent Derscheid listed positions and pay rates, including Class 1 Pool Managers at $14.00 per hour, lifeguards at rates between $13.00 and $14.91 per hour (with WSI at $15.00/hr. where applicable), and plate umpires at $30.00 per game.

The personnel list names more than 40 individuals across classifications (park worker, concessions, scorekeeper, plate and field umpires, recreation assistants and pool staff). The minutes state that "Lifeguards are contingent upon passing certification," a condition the Council recorded as part of its approval. The hires were approved by voice vote and the motion carried. Councilmembers who moved and seconded the motion were Siebrecht and Derscheid, respectively. The approvals allow the city to staff scheduled spring and summer programs, subject to required certifications and background checks where applicable.
