Sedgwick County received an unmodified (clean) audit opinion for its 2024 financial statements and a clean single‑audit on ARPA funds, auditors told the Board of County Commissioners on May 14.
Michael Gerber of FORVIS Mazars presented the audit highlights and said the firm issued a clean opinion and found no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in internal controls, including no findings on ARPA compliance testing. "We did issue a clean opinion, unmodified is what we call that, but that's the opinion that you want as a result of an audit," Gerber said.
Accounting Director Hope Fernandez and CFO Lindsay Peruso reviewed the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. Key figures noted: governmental revenues of about $498 million and expenses of $446 million in 2024; general fund unassigned balance of about $74 million; $32 million of ARPA revenue replacement recognized in 2024; and the county’s designation as a low‑risk auditee. Commissioners praised the finance team and the audit outcome; the board received and filed the ACFR.
