Board grants CDBG signatory authority, approves vehicle purchase and lease extension

Deputy County Manager Gail Edwards asked the board to grant signatory authority to the County Manager and Deputy County Manager to execute program-related documents and to approve change orders up to $24,999 for the Community Development Block Grant Neighborhood Revitalization (CDBG-NR) program. Edwards said the project is 100% grant funded and that the county’s purchasing policy already gives the manager authority to approve contracts up to $24,999. Commissioner Lavern Coleman moved to approve the resolution and the motion passed unanimously.
Cooperative Extension Director Howard Wallace requested approval to purchase a replacement minivan (2026 Chrysler Voyager) from Deacon Jones Chrysler of Clinton for $40,160.31 under the state contract vendor list; Vice Chairman Scott Floyd asked whether a local Dodge dealership had been quoted. Commissioner Giles E. Byrd moved to approve the purchase; Commissioner Lavern Coleman seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
County Attorney Amanda Prince requested a one-year lease extension with Easter Seals for property behind the old health department, noting the agreement will remain the same; the board approved the extension by unanimous vote.
