County approves engineering task orders for water districts and on-call Smith Gardner agreement for transfer station design
Summary
The board approved Task Orders #14 and #15 with Green Engineering ($157,500 each) for Water Districts II and V asset-inventory assessments and a five-year on-call engineering agreement with Smith Gardner Inc. to design a new transfer station; a WD IV change order reduced a contract by $6,000.
Columbus County approved multiple infrastructure and engineering actions related to water, sewer and solid-waste projects on June 1.
Public Utilities Director Harold Nobles presented and the board approved Task Order #14 (District II Asset Inventory & Assessment) with Green Engineering for $157,500, grant funded and scheduled for completion by March 10, 2027. A similar Task Order #15 for District V was approved for the same amount. The board also approved a five-year, on-call Master Services Agreement with Smith Gardner Inc. to support transfer-station design, PFAS monitoring, LCID design and related tasks.
Separately, the board approved Change Order #1 for Bill's Well Drilling on the WD IV EDA project, reducing the contract amount by $6,000. Task orders include line-item breakdowns (GPS inventory, shapefile/database creation, prioritization and budget development) and require the county to maintain capital-project accounting consistent with G.S. 159-13.2.
