Columbus County approves multiple contracts, boiler replacement and airport final change order

Facility Services' low bid from ICON Boiler for $36,706.11 to replace the courthouse boiler at 113 Courthouse Square was approved unanimously. MIS/GIS received Board approval for a $33,367.36 contract and requisition with Vircom for email filtering and archiving services funded from the FY27 MIS budget. Airport Director Phil Edwards presented a final adjusting change order #7 with Thomas Construction Group that decreased the contract by $39,406 after a final price review; the change passed unanimously.
During the joint Water & Sewer Districts session the Board approved Change Order No. 2 (a reduction of $39,136.50 for a reduced asphalt profile) and Change Order No. 3 ($13,961.83 for geo-textile undercut and stone replacement) on the International Logistics Park water, sewer and road extension project, resulting in a net project decrease of roughly $26,000. Economic Development Director Dylan Bowen described the ILP work and said the DOT approved a reduced road thickness that produced the savings: "This is for the park that is shared by Brunswick County and Columbus County on Highway 7476," Bowen said.
