Department of Social Services Director Dwella Hall updated the Board on operational and audit matters, reporting a state-provided PATH NC go-live date for ongoing Child Welfare services and a CIP award to support energy-related crisis assistance.
"We will be going live on August 2nd. All Child Welfare services will be live and moving forward through Path C beginning August 2nd," Hall told commissioners. She also said the agency was awarded $189,400 for the Crisis Intervention Program to help eligible families with energy-related needs and summarized recent audit results.
Hall told the Board that recent state audits identified recordkeeping and documentation issues dating back to 2013–2022 but that the findings did not invalidate case statuses. She reported performance metrics including June collections: "Child Support collected $425,286, and Program Integrity collected $3,950.33." Program managers provided unit-level updates: CPS is fully staffed and intake volumes are stable but accepted reports increased; Foster Care had 55 children in care as of June 30; and several units are completing corrective-action training.
Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the DSS budget amendment moving $160,618 from payroll to miscellaneous expenses to fund corrective‑action payments identified in a Title IV Eligibility audit. Hall said staff will continue process improvements and training to address audit findings.
