Southeastern Community College reports strong gains under 2021''2026 strategic plan

Dr. Chris English, president of Southeastern Community College, told the Columbus County board that the college exceeded several multi-year targets from its 2021''2026 strategic plan.
English said the college achieved a 37.2% increase in Full-Time Equivalent earnings, grew unrestricted giving from about $39,000 on average to $134,000, and secured more than $9 million in grant funding. He highlighted more than $40 million in combined infrastructure funding, including a $22 million appropriation for a transportation training facility with a 25,000-square-foot building and five-acre driving pad. English also cited a 114% increase in workforce programming and emphasized partnerships with NC State, ECU and other institutions.
Commissioners praised the college's workforce and CTE investments; Commissioner Bullard singled out the CDL program as producing visible results. English noted that growth in FTE will be reflected in state funding on a lagged basis and thanked the county for annual contributions (noting roughly $500,000 per year toward infrastructure historically).
