Columbus County commissioners authorized the sale of the former Acme-Delco School property to Columbus Regional Properties II, LLC on June 29 for $500,000. "This is for the sale of property to Columbus Regional Properties, II, LLC. The purpose of the sale is to support the expansion of Columbus Regional Hospital, which is planned for the former Acme-Delco School property," County Attorney Amanda Prince said. The Board also granted Chairman Brent Watts signatory authority on closing documents.
Commissioner Ricky Bullard moved to approve the contract and Commissioner Barbara Featherson seconded; the motion passed unanimously. County materials indicate a full copy of the contract is housed in the clerk's office. No additional purchase contingencies or development timelines were provided during the meeting; staff said closing would be coordinated with the buyer once contract paperwork is complete.
The Board made the vote during the meeting's public-hearing block for the sale; additional zoning, permitting, or hospital planning steps were not discussed in detail on the record at this session.
