The Board of Trustees of the Village of Hewlett Neck voted unanimously May 15 to adopt a new schedule of Building Department fees covering certificates, permits and right-of-way deposits.
The adopted schedule sets a Certificate of Occupancy fee at $500, a Completion Certificate at $200 and a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy at $500 (valid for 90 days). Street/sidewalk/right-of-way opening fees include a $1,500 opening fee and a restoration deposit of $7,500 for the first 150 square feet, plus $6.00 per additional square foot. Building permit rates were set at $4.50 per square foot for new house construction and $4.00 per square foot for additions and renovations. The Zoning Board of Appeals application fee was listed at $2,000.
Mayor Moshe Blinder moved the adoption and Deputy Mayor Isaac Showman seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The minutes state: "On motion by Mayor Blinder, seconded by Deputy Mayor Showman, and unanimously approved, the Board adopted the building department fees as presented above." The change takes effect per the Board’s action at the May 15 meeting and will affect property owners and contractors applying for permits and certificates.
The fee schedule included a provision that street-opening and curb-cut restoration deposits will be held for one year after road restoration, while right-of-way and grass-area deposits will be held until work is finished and the area is restored.
