Lindsay, the county budget lead, said the next staff recap and the budget simulator results will be presented the following Tuesday and that a CIP workshop is scheduled for June 9 to review major projects including the fire training ground, the Comcare complex and the regional forensic science center. "That's essentially our notice to the public that this is going to be the maximum possible budget you all could adopt in August," Lindsay said, describing the mid‑July "last update" that sets the upper limit for the final adopted levy.
Staff emphasized that commissioners can reduce the budget after the recommended presentation but cannot increase the total after the last‑update day; the county plans separate hearings for the public and for the revenue‑neutral rate before the August adoption. Commissioners were encouraged to bring potential motions to the standing budget discussion so staff can vet them in advance and avoid procedural surprises on adoption day.
The county also said it will present budget‑simulator data to the commission in the next staff meeting and will schedule individual commissioner meetings with finance and the budget team prior to the June 17 manager deadline for recommended items.
