Village approves using police speed trailer to assess speeding in Auburn Hills

The Committee of the Whole reviewed a request from the Auburn Hills Homeowners Association for an additional 25 mph sign on the north side of the subdivision. Staff recommended not installing another static speed sign immediately and instead directing the police department to deploy the speed trailer (pending repair) to gather data and increase enforcement in the short term. "Not install additional signage at this time, but we would like to have the police department deploy the speed trailer pending its repair and provide additional attention to that area," the public works staff member said.
A trustee made a motion "to approve the processes presented by Tony Bunkelman, including using the speed trailer from the police department," the motion was seconded and the ayes carried. The board directed staff to follow up with enforcement and to bring results back to the village board for any longer-term measures.
