The Columbus County Board of Commissioners on June 9 authorized advertisement of a proposed sale of the Acme-Delco School property to Columbus Regional Healthcare Systems after reviewing a resolution and a real estate purchase-and-sale agreement. County Attorney Amanda B. Prince presented the documents and told the board the resolution authorizes public notice and sets final approval for the board’s June 29 meeting.
The agreement names Columbus Regional Properties II, LLC as purchaser and lists the purchase price as $500,000. The contract describes the site as the Acme Delco Middle School campus and says the Purchaser intends to develop a healthcare/medical campus for Columbus Regional Healthcare Systems. The contract sets the Closing no later than June 29, 2026 and establishes an Initial Inspection Period that runs until June 25, 2026; the board’s resolution conditions final approval on completion of required documents after a public hearing. "The proposed sale amount is $500,000," the record notes.
The purchase-and-sale agreement includes typical commercial terms: delivery of a North Carolina General Warranty Deed at closing; Purchaser responsibility for title insurance, the survey and due-diligence costs; proration of taxes and assessments at closing; and several Seller warranties about authority to sell and the absence, "to the best of Seller's knowledge, without investigation," of hazardous substances or environmental contamination. The agreement also conditions Purchaser’s obligation to close on obtaining zoning approval suitable for the intended improvements. The county’s motion to authorize advertisement and proceed toward closing passed unanimously.
Next steps: the board will hold a public hearing as advertised and then consider final approval and execution of sale documents at its June 29, 2026 meeting.
