The Jerseyville City Council voted to amend Title 4, Chapter 8 of the city code to prohibit video cafes—establishments where video gaming would be the primary source of revenue—and to require establishments to submit proforma or profit-and-loss statements showing sources of income. The ordinance includes a grandfather clause for businesses that already hold a video gaming "J" license.
Commissioner Anthony Steckel moved for adoption and Commissioner John Miles seconded; the vote was unanimous. The change is intended to limit the concentration of video gaming as a primary business model and to provide the city with financial disclosures for licensing decisions.
