The commission discussed a multi-pronged public-engagement approach that includes workshops in multiple neighborhoods, small-group exercises with a prepared question set, and kiosks at town events such as the farmer’s market or the ice cream social.
Chair Casey Greer and commissioners stressed reaching underrepresented groups, particularly the historic Northeast, and suggested scheduling several public-input events after Labor Day (target: early–mid September) so residents are more likely to participate. Commissioners also recommended coordinating with Onancock Main Street and the economic development authority and sharing existing survey results to avoid duplication.
Members asked staff to prepare concise handouts or structured worksheets and to budget for modest outreach costs (printing, refreshments). The commission agreed two commissioners could meet with neighborhood representatives within FOIA limits to plan targeted sessions.
