CAC aims to give migration and corridor maps to planning and the council
Summary
Committee members recommended the CAC prepare migration/habitat corridor maps and present them to planning and then to the city council so corridors are considered in development reviews. Staff will compile existing 2007/2017 mapping and coordinate a CAC presentation to council after the July meetings.
Members reviewed older habitat and migration mapping and proposed incorporating up-to-date corridors into the planning-review process. "If you can coordinate that into your planning document, that's what we would recommend," the chair said, urging that migration corridors be flagged for planning and zoning to consider during development review.
Craig Kwame and others suggested the CAC prepare a packet of maps and recommendations and come to the council with a short presentation. The mayor (via a member's conversation) was said to be supportive; staff will research existing maps, including hunting/fish-and-game migration data, and bring materials to the next CAC meeting for council presentation planning.
