Trappe to issue RFP for residential trash service; selection timed to tax-billing schedule

Town Administrator Erin Braband told the council that the current residential trash contract with Bigg Tyme Trash ends June 30, 2025 and that the town needs to put the service out to bid. "The Town must select and award the contract at the April 2, 2025 Council meeting so the residents’ cost can be provided to the County by May 1st to be listed on the real property tax bill sent out on July 1, 2025," Braband said.
Commissioner Michael Sullivan moved to issue the RFP for trash service as prepared; Commissioner Jeremy Newnam seconded and the motion was unanimously approved. The motion directs staff to proceed with procurement on the timetable stated; the minutes do not record additional procurement specifications or the number of proposals expected.
