Conservation advisory committee welcomes new member Michael Herrera

Michael Herrera, a new appointee to the City of Eagle Conservation Advisory Committee, said he will use his experience in strategic messaging and sustainable-energy communications to help the committee link technical conservation work with the public. The committee completed roll call and discussed short- and long-term project priorities.
Michael Herrera, introduced at the June 11 meeting, said he and his wife moved to Eagle because of the area’s “distinct urban–rural mix” and described his professional background in strategic messaging for sustainable-energy projects. “My goal here is using my background and strategy messaging design to help, bridge the gap between the technical conservation projects and the community,” he said.
The committee chair, Charlie Vaughn, welcomed Herrera and noted the CAC will focus in coming months on short-term (1–2 year) projects and longer-term (5-year) programs tied to the Conservation and Environmental Program (CEP) fund. Staff flagged that the current conservation fund balance is modest and that larger projects will require grant applications or general-fund support.
