Trappe council weighs three options for wastewater influent screen; costs and warranties compared

Bearing Construction’s representative Frank Carman presented three options from the company’s bid package: rebuild the existing screen ($130,154), install a new Parkson screen ($189,451) or install a Raketek XS screen ($145,880).
Town Engineer Jason Lytle told the council that the Town would not need an MDE construction permit if it chose the rebuild option but would need one for either replacement option. Council members discussed cost and warranty trade-offs: the rebuild carried a one-year mechanical warranty, while the Raketek XS option included a three-year warranty and the Parkson warranty was not specified and Mr. Carman said he would provide that information. Council members said they planned to make a final selection at their regular meeting later that evening and notify Bearing Construction.
