Trappe Council approves Main Street closure for Nov. 2 Nace’s Day parade

Yvonne Freeman, chairman of the Nace's Day celebration, told the council the 157th annual event will be held Nov. 2 and requested a street closure and use of town parks. The council approved closing Main Street from Slaughter Lane to Howell Point Road from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and granted use of Nace's Park, Veteran's Park and the open lot behind Veteran's Park for parade staging and post‑parade activities.
Sgt. Aita said he would coordinate traffic and closures with the Sheriff's Office; Commissioner Jeremy Newnam said the fire department has barricades that could be used for the event. The council's unanimous vote authorized the closure and directed staff and public safety partners to coordinate execution and safety details ahead of the November event.
No public objections were recorded at the meeting. The council's approval allows organizers to finalize plans and publicize the parade route and associated activities.
