Commissioner Walter Chase moved on Sept. 4 that the purchase of a new generator for the Town's water tower be declared an emergency because the current unit is inoperable without constant monitoring and requires an employee to remain on site. Commissioner Jeremy Newnam seconded the motion and the council approved it unanimously.
Chase requested that staff obtain additional proposals and have them available for review at a Special Council meeting scheduled Sept. 11 at 2:00 pm. The minutes record the emergency finding and the scheduled special meeting; no specific vendor or price was recorded at the Sept. 4 meeting.
Council directed staff to solicit competitive proposals and bring them to the Sept. 11 meeting for formal consideration. The emergency finding allows the town to proceed with procurement steps outside a standard RFP timetable if necessary, but the council requested multiple proposals be obtained for review.
