Pilot and contractor propose hangar modification to house firefighting airplane; applicant offers to fund alterations

Staff introduced a tenant request to modify a hangar to accommodate a firefighting airplane whose tail exceeds the current door height. Brandon Leggett of Henry's Aerial Service described the aircraft as about 17 feet high and said the proposed approach is to modify the roller door in the middle so the tail can pass; he offered to pay for the modifications and lease the hangar at about $400 per month.
Leggett said Texas Forestry has been supportive of relocating aerial firefighting assets and that keeping the airplane available locally is beneficial for rapid deployment and weather protection. Council asked for any needed plans and drawings before approving modifications; Leggett said he would prepare plans and come back to the council for approval of final terms.
