Elkhart board signs contracts to finalize Island of Blues festival lineup

Elkhart Parks and Recreation presented three entertainment contracts for the upcoming Island of Blues festival and the board approved each one unanimously.
"They're my all female band out of Chicago that we actually had last year, that opened up for us, but unfortunately, it kinda got rained out a little bit, and they were really good," said Liz Detmer, the department's event coordinator, describing Apatcha Blues and the committee's decision to invite them back. The board approved the Apatcha Blues contract following that introduction.
Detmer said JR Clark band, a local eight-piece group, will perform in the 5:00 slot and that Sugar Lime Blue Entertainment (a husband-and-wife duo who performed at earlier events) will help open the festival. Each contract was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote with no objections.
