Finance committee outlines 2027 budget schedule, discusses switching to electronic payments with Corpay

Miss Watt reported that the finance committee met to set the 2027 budget schedule and plan the public budget process. She said the committee set an initial meeting for Aug. 26 (approx. 2:30 p.m.) and expects the first budget work session to be on the Sept. 1 agenda, with six meetings planned and two alternate dates if continuations are needed.
“The 1st upcoming meeting will be on August 26 at approximately 02:30PM,” Miss Watt said. She also told council the committee discussed a possible move to electronic payments: “Another portion of the discussion was a full movement to electronic payments potentially with a company called Corpay. That is 0.333 party vendor payment system. This would move us out of writing checks and into mostly digital payments.”
Council members did not vote on budget adoption at the meeting; the dates and vendor discussion are preparatory and will be finalized through advertised budget meetings and work sessions.
