Hillsdale creates salt-shed reserve, addresses light-pole replacements and detour traffic

The Town Board voted to create a dedicated capital reserve fund for a salt shed (Resolution 59-2025), a step board members said will help plan for future highway infrastructure needs. Attorney Ken Dow told the board "the creation of the reserve account was subject to a permissive referendum and public notice."
Highway Superintendent Richard Briggs reported increased traffic on Collins Street, Mitchell Street and Old Town Road due to the Route 23 closure for culvert replacement, and the board discussed speed signs and ongoing light-pole replacements. Councilmember Irwin Feld said insurance had paid for damaged poles and the board is awaiting DOT approval to relocate a pole.
