Commission OKs change order for county resurfacing program, including raised pavement markers and shoulder work

The commission approved Change Order No. 4 with McClendon Enterprises covering supplemental work on the county's 2025 maintenance resurfacing program. Engineering project coordinator Lauren Schumann told the board the change order includes raised pavement markers (RPMs) on Nelly Road and Benjamin Ganan Road, shoulder improvements on Anza Lane, additional shoulder material on Church Road and a 60‑day contract time extension.
Schumann said one of the larger cost drivers was additional dirt that had to be obtained from a borrow pit because on‑site suitable material had been exhausted. "One of the larger cost items in this change order is the additional dirt that was needed to complete the project... and so this accounts for the majority of the cost," Schumann said. Engineering recommended alternative 1 and the board approved the change order without opposition.
