Sylvania’s city council voted July 20 to add a Roth 457(b) option to the Ohio deferred compensation plan, giving municipal employees an additional retirement-savings choice.
Miss Smith explained the change as an additional voluntary option for employees and said it is distinct from the city’s existing deferred-compensation option. Brian McCann moved adoption by title; the motion was approved as an emergency measure. The council confirmed that the Roth option is employee-paid and that the city will not make employer contributions toward Roth 457 accounts.
The measure was presented as a personnel/benefits item intended to expand employee choices; the council’s action makes the option available immediately under the city’s deferred-compensation platform.
