The MIDWEST CITY-DEL CITY Board of Education approved a package of athletics-related purchases and construction approvals that the district said will improve competition and training spaces.
Mister Collier requested approval to buy three competition wrestling mats from Century Mats Solutions at a total cost above $31,000, to be paid from bond 35; the board approved the purchase. Facilities staff also presented procurement for athletic training equipment and specialty furniture for a new end-zone Athletic Training Room at Carlisle High School, and a separate approval for chairs and storage carts for an end-zone project at Carla High School.
Facilities staff asked the board to approve Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) amendments (amendments 29'34) covering renovations to three baseball and three softball fields. "We've got the bids now. We've got them in under budget," a facilities presenter said, and the board approved the GMPs and the related change orders.
Board members asked about prior flooding at the Dale City site and were told city and base infrastructure work and creek cleanouts helped reduce flooding risk this year; presenters cautioned they cannot guarantee flooding will never recur. All athletics-related items on the agenda were approved on voice or roll-call votes.
