Idaho 988 director asks Eagle for $10,000 to sustain crisis follow‑up and mobile dispatch

Lee Flynn, director of the Idaho 988 Center, briefed the City of Eagle on the statewide crisis hotline's role and local activity and asked the council for $10,000 in municipal support.

"We are Idaho 9 8 8, and we are the 9 8 8 Center for Idaho," Flynn said, describing the program as an entry point into the behavioral‑health system that provides de‑escalation, safety planning and follow‑up calls and texts for those who consent. Flynn told council that in 2025 the center handled about 30,402 crisis contacts statewide and that "about 85% we are able typically to support within that call," meaning most contacts do not escalate to a higher level of care.

Flynn said mobile‑crisis teams dispatch statewide as needed and that in the capture period he reviewed there were 51 known calls/texts/chats from Eagle residents and 19 mobile crisis dispatches (noting the local count is likely an undercount because contacts are anonymous unless callers provide location). He described a non‑published first‑responder phone line for police and EMS to reach the center more directly.

"We're just requesting $10,000 to continue to provide the crisis support that we do that is available to every resident in Eagle," Flynn told council. Council members thanked the presenter, asked for demographic breakdowns and Flynn offered to follow up with available age‑group data and clarify reporting limitations (underreporting when callers remain anonymous).

The request will be considered during council budget deliberations; no appropriation vote occurred at this meeting.
