New Winter Springs Police Foundation introduces fundraising events, training and support mission

The Winter Springs Police Foundation made its first presentation to the city commission Monday night, introducing board members and outlining plans to support the department through fundraising and community partnerships.
Dan Grieve, a former Winter Springs police officer who said he now leads the foundation, described a slate of fundraising events (a bourbon tasting Sept. 19 and a January pickleball tournament) and a threefold mission: "Number 1, to support our officers and family in their times of need. Number 2, provide specialized training technologies ... Number 3, really is just a retention and recruiting process," he said. Grieve urged residents and local businesses to get involved as sponsors and volunteers.
Commissioners welcomed the group and accepted business cards for follow-up; staff will coordinate the foundation's use of city facilities and event permitting as required. Grieve listed board members and emphasized the foundation's volunteer character and community partnership goals.
