The City of Winter Springs on Monday approved a conditional-use application to add a detached accessory dwelling unit (ADU) at 840 Dyson Drive.
John Rabin, a senior planner, told the commission the proposal is for a detached one‑story accessory structure within a 3,336-square-foot building of which 738 square feet would be the ADU. "The air conditioning area is the 730 unit," Rabin said, noting the ADU is under the city's 800-square-foot maximum and matches the primary residence in height, materials and overall appearance. Rabin recommended approval contingent on the recorded declaration of restrictions included in the applicant's materials.
Deputy Mayor Cade Resnick moved to approve the public‑hearing item; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Following the vote, Mayor Kevin McCann congratulated the property owners for improving the neighborhood.
The approval requires the recorded declaration of restrictions; staff said that signed declaration was already included in the commission packet. The commission closed public input before voting and there were no public objections recorded.
