New Kensington-Arnold board adopts $51.9 million budget, sets 104.14 mill tax levy

The New Kensington-Arnold School District Board on June 2 adopted the district’s Fiscal Year 2026–27 general fund budget with expenditures of $51,914,893 and projected revenues of $50,840,938, with $1,368,144 to be drawn from committed fund balance reserves.
"I just want to commend Mr. McVey on an outstanding job of his preparation, presentation and work on this budget," Director Robert Pallone said during the motion to adopt the budget. The motion carried unanimously.
As part of the fiscal actions, the board also approved a transfer of $640,000 from the General Fund to the Capital Projects Fund for long-term projects, and authorized returning $297,844 of unspent committed funds to the Committed General Fund Balance Reserve. The board directed the Director of Administrative Services to make any necessary final budget submissions and to close the books for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
The board separately enacted a 104.14 mill real estate tax levy for 2026–27 and approved tax acts re‑enacting the $5 per‑capita tax and local Act 511 taxes. The Board also approved the homestead and farmstead exclusion calculation based on Pennsylvania Department of Education guidance, noting PDE will provide $2,231,565.05 for tax relief and that the district’s certified count of approved homesteads and farmsteads is 3,600.
