County reviews NDSU extension staffing after agent resignation; 4‑H position may become county role

County staff told commissioners that the NDSU extension agent recently resigned and that a retirement is also pending in the extension office. The county administrator said she will meet with NDSU extension HR to confirm whether NDSU will provide two separate agents (one for 4‑H and one for agricultural extension) or whether the county may need to employ the 4‑H position locally.
"It may be that NDSU extension will employ 2 agents, 1 to do 4‑H and 1 to do ag. But we need confirmation from them that they have staff availability and money to have those positions," staff said. Commissioners were advised the county may be asked to consider employing the 4‑H position if NDSU cannot fill both roles.
Staff said they will return with recommendations after discussions with NDSU HR. Commissioners acknowledged staffing losses and thanked the employee remaining who is maintaining operations in the interim.
