Planning staff told the council that on August 4 the Board of Zoning Appeals approved Case No. 2603, allowing an expansion for the Westminster Gymnastics and Cheerleading School at 166 Airport Drive. Staff also said a site development plan has been submitted for a 43,971‑square‑foot Carroll County Sheriff’s Office headquarters at Greenwood Avenue and Manchester Avenue and that the Planning and Zoning Commission will review the proposal.
Planning staff added that a local map amendment (LMA 2601) is scheduled for a public hearing to superimpose a compatible neighborhood overlay zone to permit a mixed‑use building called Village Square at 102 Weimar Ave that would include about 122 market‑rate apartments and approximately 9,100 square feet of ground‑floor commercial space. Staff noted annexation steps remain necessary before Planning and Zoning can take final action on related items.
