The Norwalk City Fair Rent Commission on Aug. 5 accepted several newly filed fair‑rent complaints and took procedural action on many older dockets, voting to close some cases for tenant noncooperation, to decline withdrawn complaints and to leave several matters open while eviction or bankruptcy proceedings play out.
Attorney Russell Liskov reviewed the docket and recommended staff proposals on each matter, including taking no action on several landlord requests for rent increases while negotiations continue. Commissioners recorded votes on dozens of matters; for example, the commission voted to close case 1883 for failure to cooperate (staff reported no tenant response since May) and to take no action on cases with active court stays, such as 1888 and 1889. Chair Frank announced the minutes from the June 3 meeting were accepted with a single clerical correction.
