Sen. Tim Scott said that while many items are on the Senate's agenda—reconciliation 3.0, the Save America Act, nominees and pending clarity for crypto—some work will continue when the Senate returns after recess and that any reconciliation plan will need offsets to pay for new spending.
"You gotta pay for it," he said in response to a question about reconciliation, adding that the House had started work and Republicans were aligning on offsets. Scott said the Senate would start the reconciliation conversation upon return and that progress in the House and agreement among Republicans would shape the effort.
He reiterated that the Senate had time to address multiple priorities but that fiscal offsets would be necessary to advance major spending packages.
