Hanover Borough council voted to promote two members of its police force and administered the oath of office during the Finance & Personnel workshop. Council moved to appoint Joshua Brady to lieutenant and Lewis Laux to sergeant; both promotions were approved by voice vote and followed by ceremonial oath-taking.
At the podium after his swearing, Brady recited the oath used at the meeting: "I will conscientiously and impartially enforce the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the ordinances of the Borough of Hanover." Council members and staff lauded the promoted officers' experience. A presenter who oversaw the promotional process said the exam process is rigorous, with written and oral components and extensive study, and praised both men for their persistence and service. The presenter noted the two have "over 32 years in combined service" to the borough and multiple letters of appreciation and achievement.
The ceremony included short remarks from colleagues and an invitation for photographs. Council recessed briefly to begin the rest of the agenda after the promotions were completed.
