Town of Hartsville adopts camera security policy for town hall and barn

"Let it be resolved on the 17th day of June 2026 that the Board approves the Town of Hartsville Camera Security Policy that governs the use of cameras," Gerhard said when introducing the measure. Councilman Brinette Steffey seconded the resolution.
After discussion, Town Clerk Ashley Gibson called the roll. Councilmembers Heidi Margeson, Leon Woodworth Jr., Misti Carbone and Brinette Steffey and Supervisor David Gerhard all voted "Yes"; the resolution was declared approved. The policy was presented as a means both to improve safety and to provide governance over the use and potential misuse of camera equipment. The board also discussed procurement steps tied to the policy, including creating an Amazon Business account for small purchases and collecting quotes for camera brands such as Arlo, Ring and Lorax.
