The Waterbury Board of Education approved the appointment of Veda Harris as assistant (vice) principal at North End Middle School, effective Aug. 10, 2026. Commissioner Ireland made the motion and the board approved it by voice vote.
Dr. Darren Schwartz recommended Harris, describing her 22 years of service and her tenure as the district’s social studies supervisor, crediting her with strengthening curriculum and leading the district’s implementation of the African American, Black and Puerto Rican/Latino studies course. Acknowledging the appointment, Harris thanked the interview committee and district leadership and said she looked forward to working directly with students.
The appointment will be processed through standard HR and placement steps prior to the start of school.
