Board revisits vending machines, bench pricing and kiosk plans; mayor offers donation for supplies

During the June 1 meeting the Parks and Recreation Board reviewed several outstanding items under old business, including vending-machine contract delays, Eastwood barn and fence follow-up, memorial bench pricing and a proposal from NEO Carpenters to construct park kiosks.
Steve Hoffman reported the Pepsi vending-machine contract is taking longer than expected and is being escalated by the vendor. The board recorded memorial-bench pricing for outreach materials ($1,375 for a large bench; $850 for a small garden bench) and asked that pricing be added to the flyers that Amber is updating.
NEO Carpenters offered to build eight kiosks; because the organization is a 501(c)(3), the mayor said the village could not directly pay for supplies but "Mayor offered a donation instead." The board asked NEO Carpenters for construction plans so volunteers can proceed once supplies and plans are resolved. The board also noted that decorative recycling bins have been purchased and that council previously declined a gravel-parking improvement at Richfield Woods due to cost concerns.
The board logged these items for follow-up and said it would continue coordination with volunteers and the mayor's office to finalize kiosk plans and update public-facing materials.
