In the staff report on Alachua Street, the staff member said the construction maintenance agreement was approved by resolution on July 2 and that the railroad returned a fully executed agreement this morning. Staff said the railroad and its engineering subcontractor expected to go out to bid for surface and signal work within days.
"Their preliminary estimate is that the surface will be installed by the end of 2024 and the signals by June of 'twenty 5," the staff member said. Staff cautioned that the signal schedule has been delayed on past projects and the railroad’s timeline is a preliminary estimate. The report also mentioned ongoing coordination with the railroad on minor design changes related to driveway cuts and final engineering.
The staff member said Parking Lots C and D had not yet gone to bid and that horizontal work including bathroom redesigns would be up for bid shortly. Members asked for a dimensioned drawing of the Alachua Street sketch and clarification of the number and sizes of the new spaces; staff replied the revised design adds one vehicle space versus the earlier engineering and includes oversized spaces that could accommodate golf carts in some stalls.
