The Village of Richfield Parks and Recreation Board confirmed booth placement and activity plans for Community Days during its June 1 meeting, and agreed to limit the board-sponsored children’s hour at the event to one hour.
Board member Ellen Daniels reported on her conversation with the event coordinator Ruth, saying, "Ruth only wants us to sponsor children/family events for ONE HOUR." The board identified egg carries, three-legged races and a spoon-egg race as possible one-hour events and agreed to prepare prizes and printed materials — a banner, a parks map and either a QR code or handouts listing parks and amenities — to reach residents who do not use social media.
Assignments were distributed at the meeting: Diane Nagy will arrange banner printing and decals; Carol Campbell will create a magnet mockup for the booth; Steve Hoffman will work on a banner design (to be printed at Akron Main Library); and Amber will update memorial tree-and-bench flyers. The board discussed outreach to local businesses for prize donations, mentioning Country Maid, Ocelot and McDonald’s as potential sponsors.
The board emphasized printed posters and handouts for upcoming events, noting that not everyone reads social media or the local paper. Final staffing and the precise activity schedule will be confirmed closer to Community Days and during the next meeting on July 6.
