Norwest culinary classes proposed at Peekskill Community Hub; council to receive MOU next week

Jonathan Zamora, neighborhood center director and nutrition-site manager, asked the council to approve creating an MOU to host Norwest Regional Special Services’ culinary-creation classes at the community hub. Zamora said Norwest brings instructors, curriculum and ingredients and that roughly 50% of participants are Peekskill residents, so hosting the program locally avoids travel barriers for residents.
He presented a proposed schedule (Wednesdays 3:30–6 p.m., beginning Sept. 17, two six-week sessions through Dec. 17) and said staff will return with a resolution next week. Council members expressed support and asked about participation and integration with other senior programming.
