City staff reported that an excavated area on Hamilton Avenue shows collapsing side areas and slipping plates that staff consider an emergency and asked the council to prepare a resolution authorizing immediate repairs for an amount not to exceed $40,000. The manager said the work will likely come in under that ceiling but asked the council to approve the not-to-exceed authorization so repairs can proceed promptly.
Staff also outlined plans to create a time-and-materials on-call contractor roster (licensed electrician, plumber, excavation and heavy equipment) to improve response capacity for stormwater and other emergency infrastructure needs; staff said procurement changes are in place and the roster would be advertised next week.
